Favourite alien/ufo/arrival movie

I have always been a casual observer of this subject but since Grusch I have gotten sucked in to the rabbit hole and have been consuming a lot of alien/ufo content this past couple weeks. This is the case for a friend of mine aswell. This weekend we are hanging out and plan to watch an alien movie or two. Particularly we like the trope of the aliens arriving. Growing up our favourite alien movie was Signs. We plan to watch that this weekend, but also another one and we’re not sure which one to pick. We are considering Contact, Arrival and Independence Day but Id love to hear what everyones favourite alien/ufo movie is and why. What about it stands out to you? For me it doesnt necessarily need to be realistic. For example although I love Signs, thats not necessarily how i think would play out, but Id love to hear suggestions of movies you think would be realistic, and ones you just love. Also, if anyone has a top 5 or top 10 list they want to share im all ears but id love for everyone to share their favourities movie and why, as if you were trying to sell the movie. For me Signs was so good because it has some great horror moments (they scared me lol), but i also love how throughout the movie you get the see the world come to the realisation and the media coverage of how it all unfolds. The ending sucks, in terms of the alien resolution, but the films is about faith and seeing the pastors faith come back after a series of “coincidences” gives me enough cathartic enjoyment that i can overlook the silly alergic to water bit. I loved how the aliens looked in it aswell, the basic humanoid form, but tall and reptilian really scared me as a kid, especially in a rural area out in the cornfields which is similar to where i grew up. So yeah thats why I love Signs. What do you guys love?
