Let’s say a big media push is started on this story to pressure these House members. An easy thing these politicians could say is the quote above. It would be enough to fool any casual observer even if it wouldn’t dupe us. All the ones opposing this could adopt this excuse and respond to the media backlash. After all, it at least sounds believable.
