This one is a fascinating one to me as it has so little fan-fare in the summary of the daily camp record. A luminous body, about the size of a cannonball, came down during the night of July 22, 1836 over an encampment of 515 individuals, and close to the ground, whirled around for about 40-50 times, and exited horizontally away from the group.

In my view, one of the earliest mass sightings of an “UFO”.

The documentation is found on page 595 of the official record of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints publication, “History of the church” Volume 5-8 and formally published in July 1888.
