With this in mind, it would be awesome and fun exercise to see what some of you come up with to fill in the gaps. You can outsource this ti ChatGPT if you like. By now we know the following data that we can inject in the report below:
Date, location, I am sure the word saucer (the gimbal effect, INMHO, might be more of heat/IF artifact making the centerline more pronounced? but I don’t think there is a protrusion from the craft) can be added in there, as well as AESA, fleet, Air Force/AF, 120 knots, 4 to 6 objects, perhaps spheres (the fleet), wedge formation, East Coast, Atlantic Coast?, nautical miles/nm, AT-FLIR/FLIR, tight turn or turn radius, heat signature (maybe). I propose we just make up a name for the pilot at this point as a place holder.

In [—],LT [—] was serving as a Weapons Systems Officer in [—]. At that time, the squadron was participating in COMPTUEX with the [—] as part of the pre-deployment workup cycle. Toward the end of one of the night flights, LT [–] was conducting during the at-sea period, he and his pilot detected an air contact via [———] coming from the east and heading towards the ship. Initially thinking it may be a simulated adversary aircraft as part of the COMPTUEX scenario, he took a [—] lock to investigate further. The contact was at approximately [———————-]. At that time, the squadron was participating in COMPTUEX with the [USS Theodore Roosevelt) carrier strike group ] as part of the pre-deployment workup cycle. Toward the end of one of the night flights, LT [Dale] was conducting during the at-sea period, he and his pilot detected an air contact via [their Target Aspect Indicator or Radar] coming from the east and heading towards the ship. Initially thinking it may be a simulated adversary aircraft as part of the COMPTUEX scenario, he took a [radar] lock to investigate further. The contact was at approximately [20 nautical miles]. With a stable trackfile, the two aircrew determined that it was not a “false hit” and they were able to gain a lock via the [ATFLIR system] which further indicated the vehicle had a [heat signature]. It became clear via the [AESA] that there were [4-6] air vehicles flying [straight-line path] [in a wedge] type formation. The pilot maneuvered the [FLIR] to maintain [target] lock in an effort to gather [telemetry] and try to make an ID. The air vehicle appeared to be shaped like a [Saucer] resembling some type of [Gimbal] Maintaining [target lock] on what appeared to be the [mother/main] craft, LT [Dale] and his pilot noted what appeared to be very [odd maneuver] that it made.
