Just watched a ghost hunting show and I got to tell you. When I was a kid back in the late 90s/early 00s, sometimes I watched these shows and if you were lucky, something minor happened like once a season at most. Something vague that could indicate some paranormal activity if you wanted to. But nowadays, something freakingly sensational happens for every new room they walk into. And that got me thinking.
What sells these days? Sensationalism. Maybe we are not closer to disclosure, its just that some people are willing to go further to sell us the illusion that makes them money. We see it in every other branch of entertainment. Reality shows? You bet. Sports? Of course! You’ve got to push it to the next level.
The bar is getting higher in all corners of society, even in science. What science are we funding? AI because that’s dope, and that shit brings money. Or politics. Look at the candidates. Populism is growing stronger everyday, also here in Europe. You collect votes either by being a war mongering old man or a bigot. People dont want boring or safe, people want action. So they give it to us. Thats what sells.
Hey lets make a trip to congress, what are we going to lose? You cant prove a negative, right? And this is the next step, we have to advance.
But hear me out, I am a believer. Or I want to be. But with this shit, you cant afford to bet everything on one single horse. And Im not saying that I believe everything I just wrote. But it could be that way, and I should be open to that.
