I read these confident posts regurgitating unproven concepts like mass dampening and I just have to ask where all this unearned confidence comes from? In order to adequately explain how to break the rules of physics you kind of first have to understand how physics works in the first place. It’s kind of like how you don’t know when it’s proper to take a short cut in math until you know the initial algorithm.
However in this sub, people with no physics backgrounds are more confident than people that have actually studied the topic. It’s classic Dunning-Kreuger. People don’t really understand how well classical physics works in describing the world around us so they are much more keen to throw it away based on stories from people. It’s just a total lack of understanding of how the scientific process works and the type of rigor that has gone into our current understanding of the world.
Sure it’s fun to put out some conjecture based on some patents that never worked that you happened to read, but please just be a little less confident when it’s obvious to people with a scientific background that you don’t really know what you’re talking about. Some humility would be nice.
