Recently released documents show that the SIAI Marchetti base was liberated by anti-fascist partisans (who were backed by the OSS) after a round of negotiations at a hotel in Milan. This supports the claim by Grusch that the Magenta craft was “scooped up” by the OSS at the end of the war.
