Reliable References for someone new to this subject.

I’ve been interested in this subject for almost my whole life. In the last decade I have done a deep dive after some early childhood experiences came up in therapy.

I haven’t seen many posts aimed at helping beginners to the topic.

As there is a butt load of disinformation and unfalsifiable dogmatic attitudes attached to some of the most popular memes… Having a healthy skeptical attitude is a good way to approach it. (btw, how many butt loads are in a shit ton?)

I put together some works I feel covers the topic from a balanced viewpoint: not entirely woo, not entirely hard physics.

I have sorted through a veritable mountain of garbage in the UFO/UAP topic, and this is a list I would have been stoked to find when I was getting going. For anyone curious:

Conscientious UFO/UAP References

Documentaries:

Anything by James Fox is great. The 2 best to start with, are: 1. The Phenomenon – a good overview of the nuts and bolts of UFO history, with factual representation.

Moment of Contact – Shockingly good reexamination of the Varginha Brazil crash and retrieval/coverup in 1996.

Then there’s several very interesting from Dr. Steven Greer, with some extreme claims you may want to take with a pinch of salt (really worth watching regardless): 3. Unacknowledged – exposes the reasons behind, and degree of, illegal covert operations at the core of UFO secrecy.

The Lost Century – Claims that physics and energy research has been diverted to keep people from the truth of what powers these craft.

Then there’s some about very personal experiences with contact. 5. Travis: The True Story of Travis Walton – One of the most famous abductions in the world, finally told by the man himself. Really well done and rigorous investigations.

Witness of Another World – follows an experiencer who lives a solitary existence on a remote farm with PTSD from his encounter. Filmmaker Alan Stivelman -together with the help of famous astrophysicist Jacques Vallée- begin an epic journey to help Juan in understanding the deep meaning of his close encounter. This true story shows the long-term consequences of close encounters, proving that no one is exempt from a potential contact. (Brought me to tears)

Books:

Some of the best are from complete outsiders to the subject, 2 of my faves are from a professor in religious studies – D.W. Pasulka 1. “American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology” – first coming across the subject was a big shock for her, and she discovers there’s some real stuff going on. Really great reporting on the spiritual aspects of the phenomenon mostly overlooked by the nuts and bolts people.

“Encounters: Experiences with Nonhuman Intelligences” – the next step in her reporting. I feel there’s an obvious Catholic slant to her conclusions, as she is one… but the phenomenon she investigates is as real as you or me. We (humans) are being guided by some intelligence, what that represents, is still to be discovered.

Then there is the ever-present: Jaques Vallée – Probably the best known UFOlogist in the world, who comes to the conclusion that there is definitively more to this than just craft, or ET’s or whatever you want to call them, there is an intelligence behind this phenomenon that has been interacting with our species since the beginning.

Passport to Magonia: On UFOs, Folklore, and Parallel Worlds – Referencing folklore traditions worldwide, we have stories of the exact contact experiences we currently relate to “aliens”, by the hands of goblins, elves, faeries, angels and demons.

The Trilogy – DIMENSIONS: A Casebook of Alien Contact (Book 1) CONFRONTATIONS: A Scientist’s Search for Alien Contact (Book 2) REVELATIONS: Alien Contact and Human Deception (Book 3)

Such great angles on direct contact experiences, and ufo touchdowns around the world, through a scientific lens.

Lots more books but those are the most balanced overview of most aspects of the phenomenon, and span a good deal of the current state of what is happening to experiencers, and in the worlds gov’ts.

Podcasts:

Theories of Everything with Curt Jaimungal – NOT a UFO podcast, more a science and physics related podcast. With a great host who encounters the phenomenon and gets the worlds leading physicists and researchers to talk about UFO and related subjects sometimes. Really the best one there is, as it’s honest, and has some BRILLIANT minds exploring important ideas.

That UFO Podcast – a very honest exploration with all the common characters of the current UFOlogy scene. Super great thick Scottish accent, which I love.

Engaging The Phenomenon – Succinct interviews with people researching all aspects of the phenomenon, with a focus on disclosure.

A few wilder options: 4. Jesse Michels – American Alchemy. Great interviews with wild speculation.

The WHY Files – hilarious all over the map podcast on crazy subjects from around the world which debunk some of the most popular garbage in this scene, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The ones they can’t debunk are the best.

Hope this is helpful.
