Is the somber and most somber truth I can imagine. There is a concept in philosophy called the nozick experience machine. It postulates that humans would rather choose the suffering of everyday reality to a pleasure experience machine.
The thing is, imagine if people actually suffered in that experience machine and that by a strict definition people aren’t even people. The government would never release this information.
