Technologed 101 – Have you ridiculed / dismissed someone before?

So, if you know about the Ariel event in Zimbabwe, you MAY know that one of the messages is that we should be cautious about technology — in 1994. We should question it more – so to speak. TECHNOLOGED – a word that – as far as I’m concerned, never existed until I learned more about the Ariel Event. A very unusual word.

1994 – a time when home cordless phones existed for many years by then (Just going DIgital), but personal cell phones were used only by relatively well to do or those with certain business needs. Pagers were a thing. Installed car phones were still a thing. Apple as a company was still in the doldrums. Macs were still a relative niche. A 386 was on its last consumer legs, but a 486 computer was considered the best from a PC perspective, though the Intel Pentium had just come out. Calculating bug anyone? Math co-processor? AMD was a distant pretender to Intel. Wintel was a moniker. Winvidia now? Google what?

A time when the Internet existed, but not in the way we have it today. Compuserve was still going and the more in the know used that, but AOL was the big thing for the masses. Geoworks anyone?
Dial-up was still king. What’s a cable modem? DSL?

Email was still a novelty. BBS’es – Wildcat!, PC Board – still a thing, though perhaps the writing was on the wall for them. It was cool to have a US Robotics 56k or even faster? modem. Xmodem, Zmodem! Ymodem anyone? PKZIP!

With that said (Add whatever detail you like) – have you ever made fun of / laughed at / ridiculed someone who raised a concern – either online – on in person – that maybe xxxx technology is not all it’s cracked up to be?
