IF ufos exist and can perform the capabilities that have been witnessed and documented, they are at the very least incredibly powerful weapons, able to put a nuke anywhere instantaneously. Possibly they are capable of slowing or warping time or space, traveling through solid objects, teleportation, interacting with other dimensions, etc.
To me, the most likely scenario is that these objects are understood by our military. We may even have our own. What this doesn’t mean is that we are welcome in space. Humans are terrible and mean a lot of the time, and we love to use insanely powerful weapons on just about anyone. We really don’t have the respect for life you would expect from a highly advanced civilization. Even if we have crafts capable of these amazing feats, it may be that we just aren’t wanted outside of our little water world. This would indeed be shocking and I might be somber if we as a species found this out. Maybe we’ve been given time to essentially get our shit together, but instead of addressing our behavioral issues publicly as a global population the military decided it was going to figure a way to “break out” because they don’t like being told no. Honestly I don’t want our species quickly populating the galaxy until we can learn to be nicer to each other.
Many journalists say they “know” things, but they need to protect their sources. With all due respect, if this issue is actually as existentially huge as many of us think it may be, then information given by sources must be revealed to the public, even if the sources don’t want that info out. It’s too important to sit on information to protect someone’s career, and I believe there is a journalistic duty and an obligation as a human to BREAK that vow between your source, IF holding back the information is doing incredible harm to all of humanity. Or go find someone who will actually go to jail for this issue. Being poor in a country that lies to you about other life in the universe can feel like jail already so I’m sure we can find someone willing to be one of the most famous people on the planet.
Maybe we all, as a species, need to be told that we have to behave better if we want to explore space. Maybe to get that information out, some people will lose their government jobs, or even go to jail. I struggle to imagine a world where the US government would prosecute, incarcerate, or execute the person who publicly streamed to the world “we are not alone and I have proof, here it is.” I think the public outcry just wouldn’t allow it, and that may be naive(Snowden), but I also think it may be the reason the MIC is scared of it happening. That person becomes a martyr of unseen scale, while the whole world reels and tries to process the information of not being alone in the universe, and the prosecution of that person would bring even more distrust in our government right after being exposed for insane amounts of lying about ufos and misuse of incredible amounts of public money.
If the truth is yes, the scale of this mystery is unfathomable and takes us down many uncomfortable and wonderful paths, then I believe it’s time to leak it all. Who can have faith in a government that lies about the fundamental nature of our reality to it’s population, when secretly knowing such a huge truth? The best way forward in my mind would be for our government to essentially say “look, it was a scary time, we fucked up, sorry”. That hasn’t happened, and I’m getting sick of watching Youtube videos full of promises for the future. Even if it leaks today, this tech may never be available for the public in our lifetimes, and I’m ok with that. We’re just assholes too much of the time. Maybe this tech doesn’t mean flying spaceships and time travel for humans right now, but a global understanding that we need to be better before venturing out. Whatever it means for us, we deserve to know the facts our government knows about our reality immediately.
