Maj. David Grusch, a retired Air Force intelligence officer, has made extraordinary claims about the U.S. government’s alleged secret program to reverse-engineer extraterrestrial aircraft.

Grusch has also said that he was retaliated against for blowing the whistle on the program. However, police records obtained by The Intercept reveal that Grusch was committed to a mental health facility in 2018 after he made a suicidal statement.

Grusch has said that his mental health issues are behind him, but some have questioned his credibility in light of the records.

The House Oversight Committee is investigating Grusch’s claims, and it is unclear whether he will be able to substantiate them.
