I stumbled upon this: https://publicdomainreview.org/collection/utsuro-bune/
Utsuro-bune, which translates to “hollow ship” and refers to a legendary sighting of a mysterious object that washed ashore in Japan in 1803.
The collection includes illustrations from the Edo period (1603-1868) depicting the Utsuro-bune. There are also written accounts, with the most detailed one appearing in a collection of tales called Toen shōsetsu. This account describes a beautiful, non-human woman emerging from a hollow, metal ship that landed on a beach.
The Public Domain Review article acknowledges that some people believe the Utsuro-bune story to be a factual account of an extraterrestrial visitation, while others see it as a fictional tale or a story about a castaway.
