US Space Force plans global radar to ‘Identify Emerging Threats’ in Distant Earth Orbit

The battlefield of the 21st century is divided into several domains. These domains are: air, land, sea, cyberspace and space.

As the space domain rapidly evolves, steps to ensure the collective ability to operate safely, with nations that are uniquely positioned to provide that capability on a global scale, are necessary. Therefore, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia have signed an agreement to develop deep space radar.

This announcement adds to Space Force’s increased focus on the outer space domain awareness, down to the ability to identify, track and keep watch over the various objects in orbit around Earth.

This would provide a space domain awareness capability to deter nations from undertaking activities that are against the interests of the US, UK and Australia, by providing continuous global detection and observation of satellites in space.

Perhaps, these capabilities can be extended to being able to detect anomalous aerospace phenomena.
