I’ve brought this up in some threads but I feel like it deserves its own post, and forgive me if it’s been discussed before.
But it honestly feels like to me that Matt Gaetz flipped halfway through.
He originally seemed pretty fired up, but a lot of that read as him being personally offended. He seemed indignant that he was denied access. It was his main contention in the House hearings, he’s brought it up several times otherwise.
The day they were denied access to Eglin AFB, who intervened and gave Gaetz access? Mike Rogers.
Then, blindsiding everyone, the Burchett amendment reappears. Most the players are advocating for it in addition to the Schumer amendment. (I may have missed it, I never saw Gaetz say that himself, though maybe he did)
Gaetz was unusually stuck on pushing the lie that the Schumer amendment would delay disclosure for 25 years. A complete inaccuracy and easily disproven by any layman. Matt Gaetz is an POS but he isn’t stupid, he knew he was being inaccurate.
He was clearly very much so pushing the Burchett amendment while lying about the Schumer amendment. How does pushing an amendment that leaves the power of disclosure in the hands of the DOD make any sense to someone wanting disclosure?
And in that same press conference, who is Matt heaping praise on for being such an ally? Mike Rogers.
Who according to Gaetz allowed the Burchett amendment to be added without objection. I can’t imagine why, lol.
Rogers and Gaetz were far from strangers before Elgin AFB. Rogers is Chairman of Armed Services, which Gaetz serves on. Rogers is actually the dude that lunged at Gaetz during McCarthy’s speakership votes. Though afterward Gaetz told the press him and Rogers have a long-standing positive working relationship and that tempers were simply flaring that day.
I think Gaetz was honestly intrigued in the beginning when investigating the Eglin happenings, then was eventually promised increased access by Rogers and flipped.
He used his trusted position within the UAP caucus to manipulate and inform on its members, who obviously trust him. He was also one of the only UAP caucus members on the conference committee.
I fully expect to see him continuing to throw wrenches into the works from the inside in any upcoming hearings etc
