What if it’s something people dont want to know?

I had this crazy idea, and I’m sure I’m not the first to ever think this up. But what if the truth is something a pill too hard to swallow? What if its something like; aliens do exist, but not at all in the way you’ve imagined? What if they are the creators of a simulation we all exist inside of? And finding out that life is closer to a movie than an actually existence? Would people really want that information? I would presume an insane percentage of mass suicide and absolutely collapse of all the civil norms around the world. Basically what if a video game character found out he was a video game character. Haha I’m sure I’m not the first to think this up, but a little too much free time and a bit to mich marijuana got me wanting to write it down lol. What do yall think? I had a weird “trip” where I felt like it all made sense
