For me structures like the Arecibo telescope come to mind, as an example. I don’t have any specific reason to think so, but I like the example because it meets some criteria I think are likely:
Likely in a remote or seemingly random geographic area, not near a population center or any convenient infrastructure which typically dictates where things are built. The telescope is actually pretty near Arecibo so maybe not the best example.
Super large
Able to be funded publicly by the US while not necessarily being in the continental US (it’s still in the US though via Puerto rico..again maybe a bad example)
Provides a perfectly useful function so that it works as a functional cover story.
Anyway I’m just curious if there are any good guesses or more hints that the community has picked up. We should probably think a little outside the box, including maybe areas that were intentionally flooded and so on.
