What is our best understanding of UFOs given little to no help from the US Govt?

I’ve looked into this a bit since the congressional hearing last Summer but I can’t figure our anything besides wild speculation

*Flatlander hypothesis: This is one of the more interesting ones. Basically, these UFOs come in many shapes, exhibit insane speeds and endurance, have trans medium capabilities without compromise, but are also hard to collect video of. If we tried to make a combination submarine/airplane/spaceship, it would probably not do any of it well at all.

A tiny clue we are given is that the UFO more or less taunted(if that’s a concept for them) the pilots by appearing at their CAP waypoint after displaying tremendous speed. Now either it can effortlessly hack avionics or it has an incidental benefit, a kind of x-ray vision from having extradimensional(if that’s the correct term) abilities. Grusch has laid down many subtle hints about this at the hearing and Joe Rogan

The alien craft could have additional freedom of movement using a successor theory we can’t even guess at yet….and we might see this with our limited perception as tremendous bone crushing speed, but it’s a smooth ride for them. This kind of technology might also protect the pilot/craft from drag, g-forces, breaking the sound barrier, provide stealth etc.

The various shapes people see such as spheres, cubes, spheres with cubes, triangles, tic-tacs, and giant rectangles could also clue us in on some kind of extradimensional abilities. What seems like cloaking, morphing, unlimited speed, could be a result of our limited perception.

Extradimensional could entirely the wrong concept or just a rough analogy sort of like a 3d person “casting a 2d shadow on a sidewalk”. Our understanding of physics, general relativity, quantum mechanics work but they are a local map, not the whole territory. The government has been scratching their head on this stuff for a long time after all.
