Would a Martian Colony become Independent?

So let’s assume a 100 years pass and we get several settlements with most of the settlers being US, Russian, or Chinese. They have the most advanced space capabilities so ez assumption. Would they have something like different cities populated by their own citizens? Would they stay colonies under their respective government or try to become independent since theyre so far away from earth the same way the US did to the British. I can see gov putting military facilities on these places but with a population so far away I don’t think any gov is gonna have influence for so long. So my thinking is that once it’s self sustaining people won’t want be colonies and prefer their own gov. What type of government would this Martian country adopt?
