So apparently many of these…”things,” … can only be seen with IR.
We’ve seen what the James Webb Space Telescope can do with its IR cameras; penetrating thick cloud gases to see beyond, observing stars and other bodies that emit energy not visible within our boundaries of the EMS.
The other day I was playing with my dads night vision goggles, looking at the trees trying to see if I could catch a glimpse of a deer, moose or even a Sasquatch.
For some reason, I decided to look up.
And ho …leee….shit…
I could see about 30x the amount of stars i normally see. I could see the long streak in the sky of the Milky Way way more than I usually can with the naked eye.
And then I saw, very quickly, a small light roughly the size of a dim satellite (as seen from the ground). It was moving about as fast as a typical fast moving satellite. But then it immediately turned to the fucking right and went out of my field of view.
I’ve had many experiences, so this isn’t new to me.
Now I’m prepared .
I bought my own IR goggles which record 4K hd, it has been rigged up to my telescope. My dad managed to rig something together to use his goggles and his phone to record. (Haven’t seen it yet but my dad is crafty).
This weekend ought to be fun. I’ll post any findings if anyone is interested.
At the very least , anyone interested should purchase a set of IR goggles simply for watching the sky. It’s mind blowing.
