The following are a few reasons to be optimistic about NHIs, their presence, and their technology. There are some assumptions in the list below (and it’s obviously all my opinion), which are explained at the end. Without further ado:
The Ariel school incident revealed that NHIs are not malevolent, and are not all-knowing*. We don’t know how intelligent they actually are, or how they got their technology, but there are better ways to tell the human race about the dangers of technology than speaking telepathically to its children.
The fact that this technology exists is an amazing revelation all on its own. It means that the scope of possibilities is unimaginably wider than we thought. It means that, if we ever got our act together, we could genuinely explore our galaxy, if not, the universe.
Grusch has not broken the egg that holds all the secrets, but he might have opened the carton that holds it**. We now need congressional action, which means the ability to force disclosure has been placed in elected hands. All we need is a strong-willed American politician to come along.
A very believable hypothesis, based on this video, is that UAPs are “gifts” to humanity. The occupants, unlike the technology, don’t seem highly intelligent, and don’t seem to be long-lived***. It could be that an NHI has seen our potential and decided to gift us some of their basic technology, in the hope that it will unite us and make humanity a galaxy-faring partner.
*Obviously, I believe the children. It’s simply the fact that their detractors have no real evidence to counter their stories, which leads to Hitchens’s razor.
**I also believe Grusch. Again, there is no real evidence against him and he has many credible backers. The only thing that’s missing is an incontrovertible smoking-gun document.
***Vargas NHI comes to mind. It is not the most reliable sighting, but it does fit the pattern of NHI not living for long on Earth.
