I’m trying to collect some of the most powerful or important quotes that have been said in regards to the UFO phenomenon. im working on a research paper and one of my directions is to pick a quote that works as a hook for readers. Since this will be read by people who have a limited understanding of the subject, a good quote would be phenomenal.
One example I have of what I mean is Major General John A. Samford’s speech on flying saucers back in 1952.
One of the most iconic words in this entire subject were said in this speech.
“Since 1947, we have received and analyzed between one and two thousand reports that have come to us from all kinds of sources. Of this great mess of reports we have been able adequately to explain the great bulk of them. Explain them to our own satisfaction. We’ve been able to explain them as
hoaxes, as erroneously identified friendly aircraft, as meteorological or electronic phenomena, or as light aberration. However, there have been a certain percentage of this volume of reports that have been made by credible observers of relatively incredible things.” – Maj. Gen John A. Samford 1952
This next example comes CNNs Larry King Live. In which Dr. Bob Jacobs talks about his 1964 Vandenberg UFO sighting. In this broadcast, things get heated between Bill Nye and Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs states:
“I was there. I saw the film with my own eyes. I’m not lying. Why would I? I I’m a university Professor with a PhD and a lot of years of good respectful research so they the guys from officer may not have seen the UFO but they saw the results of it I saw the damn thing on film with my own eyes so don’t call me a liar and you weren’t there and I was.” -Dr Bob Jacobs.
Honestly this whole segment is incredible in my opinion. Dr. Bob Jacobs comes off as someone with high credibility and I think this is what this all about. If a regular civilian were to say this, it wouldn’t matter much to many. When the same story is told by a person who is the gold standard for credibility, it becomes more interesting.
