This article acknowledges a concern I have been writing and agitating about for years: major gaps in our ability to monitor U.S. airspace and respond accordingly. The situation is actually far worse than Senators Reid and Wicker describe.

I plan to write and publish an article soon that will provide detailed examples to underscore just how serious and extensive this problem is. For instance, the USAF could not control the airspace over Langley Air Force Base, which houses the Air Combat Command, for nearly a month due to drone incursions. This led to the relocation of fighter aircraft due to uncontrolled drone overflights. This example is just one of many. Similar cases involving the disruption of military operations by unidentified, unmanned aircraft are occurring across the country and in DoD training areas off both the East and West coasts of the U.S.
