Was this a sighting? Happened a few weeks ago

So, a few weeks ago, I was looking up at the sky outside a store in the middle of the city.

I noticed what appeared to be a satellite, it was about the size of a star, and moving from the zenith towards the horizon in a steady, diagonal path. It stayed traveling like this for 5-10 seconds when, suddenly, and very abruptly, it seemed to jump to a different location in the sky, relatively close to its original path, but no longer in its original trajectory.

I thought it must be my eye glitching, but when I centered on it again, it continued behaving oddly. It kind of stood there for a second, then reversed, and continued to drop a bit. Finally, it did a loopy ∞ shape, just before shooting “up” and disappearing.

I oddly thought its behavior was sentient, although it’s possible that it was just my imagination.

What do you guys think? Had never seen something like it before.
