I won’t say my specific ‘mob’ but I am from south east Australia. I am an Aboriginal man that has more recently been trying to comprehend if or how, NHI/ET connect to the oldest living culture in the world. I would like to share some descriptions of our local mythical creatures, they are pretty consistent with other groups around Australia, but just out of respect I will focus on what I know of my local area.
Mirrarch (mi-rarch) AKA: Mook mook
A spiritual entity/deity often associated with hauntings. Best described as a ghost/demon with red eyes that can shape shift and physically grab you. I’ve hear stories of people staying at places that had these entities, they were thrown around the room and chased out of the premises.
Doolagar (doo-la-gar) AKA: Bunyip, Pangkarlangu, The Lad, Tall Man, Yowie, Yahoo
A hairy tall beast, kinda like Bigfoot. Often reported with a strong rotting odour, I’ve heard of people that have been dragged into bushes at night. Even at remote truck stops, my Uncle tells a story of how he was transporting fish from Vic to NSW and he stopped over for a sleep. He woke up to a doolagar shaking his whole truck wanting to eat the fish. Strangely in NSW they have the same entity but it’s very short and stocky, everything else is the same. I forget what they call them.
Here is a good collection of reports: https://www.yowiehunters.com.au/historical-articles/1647-hairy-man-of-south-east-australia-1977
Conciseness/old people/creator spirits:
At significant sites most of us can feel people watching us. Not in a bad way, but to watch that we are doing the right thing. If we are not, let’s say we disrespect a site, then often people will get sick or even have some sort of hitchhiker effect.
There are over 500 different aboriginal nationals around Australia, each has their own creator spirits and they are all different. It’s not as simple as finding some random cave painting and trying to draw your own conclusions. You have to understand the culture first, understand each specific groups connection to the land.
Do I believe in ET? yes Do I believe aboriginal people were visited or were witnesses? yes Do I believe aboriginal culture is directly connected to ET? Not necessarily. To me, I’m finding it hard to connect. My culture is about complex understanding of the land and how to keep it healthy. It’s a strong sub-conscious and conscious obligation. A lot of the creation spirits are based around this obligation.
