Anyone not familiar with the Big Sur event filmed by Dr Bob Jacobs back in 1964, will find this interesting. Jacobs tells his story in the the attached interview below.

I wanted to add a footnote to this story. His commander was Maj Florenz J. Mansmann, who also saw the original film. About 15 years ago I tracked down Ret Maj Mansmann at his home number. He was very ill at the time, too ill to speak, but his wife and I talked for a fair bit. She said he absolutely stands behind Jacobs and his story. She asked me to call back in a few weeks and maybe her husband would be up to talking then. But when I called back a month or so later, she said he had passed away. But she wanted to confirm that he stood by this story until his death.
