I think it’s getting hard to ignore the trend of backtracking statements from politicians and loss of momentum. I’m not throwing in the towel and am not suggesting others to do the same, but I can’t help myself from noticing patterns.

Gillibrand: Wishy-washy and contradictory statements for months now. Such as this most recent one ““I have no reason to believe that there are SAPs that exist or don’t exist.”

Rounds: He hasn’t fully walked back and does appear to be maybe still be on the hunt, yet this recent statement does give me pause cause muh national security “I think we just got to clarify what our goals on it are, and I think we can work through them. You know, bottom line is nobody is trying to release information on classified programs that would help our adversaries. But, I think more openness in terms of what we can talk about can help clarify that maybe there is nothing to be afraid of out there.”

Reading between the lines one could make the argument he’s talking about NHI and no need to panic, but just as likely he’s claiming there literally is nothing out there.

Finally, recent statements from Jim Himes. Delivering the heaviest handed most dismissive remarks – https://www.askapol.com/p/himes-dismisses-senate-uap-hearing-w-aaro

It’s hard to even get a little bit stoked about the potential hearing in a few months that Gillibrand teased. Especially if AARO is involved. Unless we have a hail Mary from yet to be seen firsthand witnesses during this hearing, then I have no idea where the momentum is coming from. Lue’s book and Grusch’s op-ed, perhaps. It’s just difficult and unwise to solely rely on one single thing.
