The audio from spaces Ken says he gets most of his information from GS-12 and GS-13s I just wanted to draw attention to how interesting of an omission that actually is.

GS-12 is the 12th paygrade in the General Schedule (GS) payscale, the payscale used to determine the salaries of most civilian government employees. The GS-12 pay grade is generally held by white-collar employees in mid-level positions.

GS-12 is the highest grade one can achieve before the position becomes “Career Competitive” meaning that the position must be listed on USAJobs.gov and be available any qualified U.S. citizen to apply. Because of positions receive above GS-12 are competitive and thus harder to obtain many scientists and engineers will reach GS-12 within the first 3 to 5 years of their career and then spend significantly longer as a GS-12 before being promoted.

——-

This would fit with the narrative of employees of the DoE given the general descriptive.

But even more striking is this:

GS-13 government employees will receive a base salary of between $84,546.00 and $109,908.00, depending on their General Schedule Step.

The educational and experience requirements for most GS-13 government jobs are:

Master’s or Ph.D. At least 1 year experience at GS-12 or equivalent

———

This particular rank would be the same general field of his father but also requires a Ph. D. to obtain this promotion. Anyone out there with more insight on the federal employee ranking system?
