Just curious: is there a “scholarly consensus” on the Thomas Mantell UFO chase-and-crash incident? I have seen various explanations from it being a real anomalous UFO/UAP, to Venus, to a Skyhook balloon, etc. There also seems to be a discrepancy surrounding Mantell’s final words from the cockpit. So, is the case regarded as an unsolved aviation mystery, or has it been dismissed as a wild goose chase where Mantell went too high and became unconscious from anoxia…?
