Maryland/DC 2/29/24 Black “Thread” in the sky

Around 6:30pm, my son pointed out something in the sky as we were at a red light. “What’s that line?” It looked like nothing I’ve ever seen before, so I started shooting video from my car. This looked black and didnt disipate or change form like a trail from an airplane would. Plus, it was vertical, like it was just hanging. It didn’t look like a trail, but I’ve also never heard of this kind of UAP shape reported before. Hard to tell the size, but I told my son if it was a balloon, from the distance, the balloon would be like 5 stories high at least. We took a few videos. In the first one, Im driving, and the “thread” can be seen at first above the stop sign. When I zoom in, the video gets shaky. I pulled over and let my son try to shoot it for clip #2. When you arent prepared and only have a cell phone to capture video, shakes happen. Anyway, here are the clips. If there’s an easy explanation and we are dumb-dumbs, apologies in advance.

Edit: I notice when my son says in the first clip “it disappeared”. It does look like it temporary becomes invisible and comes back into view.
