NICAP: 6200 MPH Target Hovers Near Grand Canyon (1957)

One of my favorite cases that I found years ago.

Somewhat unknown and not the kind of case that would be considered “groundbreaking”, but the evidence is pretty astonishing.

Target with an average speed of 6,200 MPH stopping in mid-air and then accelerating at 7,000 MPH ten degrees to its original azimuth before finally shifting another four degrees as it departed.

“Target responded to encrypted military IFF transponder signals and transmitted encrypted responses.”

I’ve always been interested in what that was about. What were those encrypted responses? Was it jumbled nonsense? Was it a secret plane that the US military had, and if it was, the fact that we had the technology in 1957 for a plane or craft to be able to accelerate to 6,200 MPH, stop mid-air and then turn on a dime is absolutely incredible.
