September 30, 2023

Dear (me),

Thank you for contacting me regarding the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2024. It is an honor to serve the people of New York’s 21st Congressional District, and I appreciate your thoughts on this matter.

As the leading advocate for Fort Drum and the 10th Mountain Division, I am proud to give Upstate New York and the North Country a seat at the highest levels, as I work to advance initiatives in this NDAA to protect and strengthen the Fort Drum community, fully equip our troops, increase our military readiness, and support the families of Servicemembers in our district. Our country must never fall behind in providing for a strong national defense.

Over the past year, I worked with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to successfully secure several wins for Fort Drum and NY-21. I worked to secure funding for Missile Defense Agency planning and design activities to continue work on a third missile defense interceptor site at Fort Drum. Additionally, this NDAA includes robust funding for the Air Force Research Lab’s Future Flag testing and evaluation exercise, conducted in Lewis, NY.

I am proud to secure provisions to support Service members and their families to address the unique challenges they face and support them as they serve and make sacrifices for our country. This NDAA supports military families by securing a 5.2% increase in Service member basic pay, the largest pay increase in over 20 years. Additionally, it requires the Department of Defense (DoD) to identify ways for local installations to expand their childcare capacity and authorizes a monthly bonus to junior enlisted members to counteract the effects of Biden’s record-high inflation. I also led the initiative to ensure that DoD’s in-home child care pilot program will prioritize expansion to rural installations including Fort Drum.

Additionally, the bill includes my Service member Parents Bill of Rights, which reinforces that Service members with children in Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools have the right to be involved in their children’s education. I am proud to have introduced and advanced with bipartisan support this amendment that provides parents full transparency into DoDEA schools about what is being taught in their child’s classroom. As our men and women serving overseas look out for our safety, I will continue to stand up for them and protect the rights of our Servicemember parents over their child’s education.

The United States must pursue peace through strength, and we cannot fall behind our foreign adversaries’ rapidly increasing capabilities. I proudly led provisions in this bill that promote increased investment in emerging technologies, secure our critical supply chains, and strengthen our military readiness. We must continue to work to deter the rapidly evolving military threats posed by China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

I am proud to have advanced a defense bill that puts taxpayer dollars to good use by strengthening our military and providing a well-deserved pay raise to our brave men and women in uniform as they work to keep us safe. Please be assured that I will continue to advocate and deliver results for Fort Drum, the 10th Mountain Division, our Service members, and their families who work to protect our freedoms every day.

Thank you again for reaching out to me. I am committed to serving you to the best of my abilities. I appreciate you taking the time to contact my office, and I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about any issues impacting our district.

As part of my commitment to transparency, I post all of my votes to my Facebook page every Friday on weeks that the House of Representatives has votes, which you can find here. I also encourage you to subscribe to my weekly e-newsletter to keep up to date on our efforts representing New York’s 21st District here.

Please feel free to contact any of my offices in the future if you seek assistance. Thank you for reaching out to me.

It is a privilege to serve you and your family.

Sincerely,

Elise M. StefanikMember of Congress

I received this reply from Rep. Stefanik, who was selected to negotiate the NDAA. I specifically asked her to respond about her stance on UAPDA, which she did not. I am going to call her office again requesting again until she does. I encourage everyone to do the same with their representative, especially if they are negotiating the NDAA.

Below are the representatives given the task to negotiate on the upcoming NDAA. Especially if you live in the districts of any of these reps, make sure to contact them:

Chairman Mike Rogers (AL-03) Rep. Joe Wilson (SC-02) Rep. Doug Lamborn (CO-05) Rep. Robert Wittman (VA-01) Rep. Austin Scott (GA-08) Rep. and Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (NY-21) Rep. To find out who is your representative, go to this website and enter your zip code: https://www.house.gov/representatives/find-your-representative

Call your House rep’s DC office and tell them:

“I strongly support government UAP transparency and declassification. I’d like a clear yes or no response, in writing (provide your full name and contact info), as to whether Representative XYZ supports the full inclusion of the UAP Disclosure Act in the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act. I absolutely want to see this legislation included in the final bill, intact, and I expect my elected officials to support it, and to encourage their colleagues to support it. I will be paying attention, and I will call back regularly until I receive a clear response from the representative regarding this specific piece of legislation.”
