Hello, please forgive me if I am violating any proper protocol. I’m here on the advice of a friend who suggested that the community here may be able to offer some advice regarding this very unusual situation. I have never used Reddit before and I’m unclear as to what would be considered proper.
I must admit, I’ve always been a bit skeptical about UFOs and the like. However, a situation involving my neighbor and an unusual artifact he possesses has prompted me to reach out for help in understanding more about all of this.
A few months ago, following an evening of pretty excessive St Patrick’s Day drinking, my neighbor told me a wild story about how when his grandfather was in the military, he was involved in cleaning up a UFO crash in Texas back in the 40s and how he had sneaked this piece away during the operation. This artifact is a metallic disk, about 4 inches across and an inch thick in the middle and it tapered to about a half inch to the edge. On the surface, there are strange markings and a metal crystalline structure inside the object that was exposed by a large chip on its edge where it had been broken presumably in the crash. The closest thing I could describe the marking to would be similar to a map with weird writing on it that had the appearance of a middle eastern wrting. His grandfather said the object was extremely important and told him to keep it hidden from everyone, including his family, and especially the government. He described it as the “key to something very dangerous.” His grandfather had given him the artifact a week before he died.
Despite my initial doubts, the seriousness of his story and the artifact’s defiance of normal physics has intrigued me. Most strange, it seems to have no weight at all. When he put it on a food scale it registered zero. When you hold it in your hand, it literally feels like you are holding a smooth nothing. Yet, when you drop it from any distance, it rapidly falls like any other object. The markings on the surface look to be etched into the surface, but when you run your finger over them, it is perfectly smooth. When you bring the object close to a plant, the leave pull toward it. Its not magnetic, and magnets do not stick to it. It is unlike anything I have ever seen.
My neighbor has since denied the artifact’s existence and pretends that our conversation never happened. But I saw it. I literally held it in my hand. Given that he said it was the key to something dangerous, I attempted to report this matter to the FBI, thinking they might be the best people to handle it. Unfortunately, they just brushed me off.
In addition to writing the FBI, I tried to contact the Air Force who told me to contact the local authorities or FBI field office. All have been dead ends. A friend told me about Mufon and suggested that I contact them. Given the potential implications of this artifact, a discreet investigation by Mufom seemed appropriate, but they never responded. So, for the past few weeks, I have spend an improper amount of time sharing this story with people online that claim to investigate such things. Most ignored me, and one strongly cautioned me to not investigate further. A close friend suggested that Reddit may be able to provide more resources and contacts to assist me.
In my own investigation over the past several months, I have since learned that his grandfather served in Army/Air Force intelligence and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He may have been somehow connected to Project Bluebook (which I recently learned about and find wildly fascinating). His father, was also in the military, Air Force I believe, and was stationed in Nevada I the 60s/70s. I asked what his father did in the military, but he said he didn’t really know and that his father never really talked about it. My neighbor himself was born on a military base in Nevada, but I don’t know which one. His father’s death a few years ago was under unusual circumstances with no cause of death identified. I remember when it happened, it was very disturbing to him and he made reference that his father and grandfather both died at the exact same age and both under unusual circumstances.
Since our initial conversation about the artifact, my neighbor has distanced himself from our normal interactions. We have been neighbors for nearly a decade and now barely speak other than our infrequent neighborhood gatherings or causul run-ins at the mailbox. I believe he may have since moved/hidden the artifact somewhere because when I was at his house a couple weeks ago for a community hang, I noticed that the box he took it out of that sat on his bookcase is now gone. To my knowledge, the only other person he told about the artifact was our other neighbor Dave who he said he told a couple years ago because Dave was a science professor at a local university and my neighbor was curious about the material of the object. Dave has since died (natural causes), so I never got to speak to him about any of this.
I would love to connect with someone who could investigate this further. I am prepared to assist in whatever capacity necessary to facilitate this investigation, but I would prefer my involvement to be kept from my neighbor, obviously. If anyone has suggestions, I am open and eager to hear them. I am in West Palm Beach, Florida. I have more details than I felt comfortable sharing here, but did my best to provide as much as I could without revealing any direct identities.
