Time of sighting:
Approximately 9:05pm
Duration of sighting:
Thirty seconds.
Number of witnesses:
Only myself.
Descripton of sighting:
I was driving to pick up some take-out and stopped at a red light, facing east. I noticed something unusually bright in the sky about 45 deg to my left and 30 deg up from horizon. I have no idea its exact size or distance because there was nothing to focus on. If I held up a little piece of paper at arms length, it would only need to be about 2mm diameter circle to cover up the light, if that gives you some perspective.
Upon noticing it my immediate reaction was “WTF is that? No way. Is this really happening?”
I initially got a bit excited but realized it was probably something prosaic and I should look closer. I scanned as much of the sky as I could from my drivers seat quickly, and there was nothing even remotely as luminous in comparison. Not a star or planet.
It appeared to me moving closer, (which would be in the direction of the nearest airport) and there was no twinkle or flicker to it, so I imagined it couldn’t be too high in the atmosphere. It shone continuously (no blinking lights) and on the warm-red side, light sunlight.
My best explanation to myself was that it was a low flying plane with his landing lights on way too early for the airport, but something still felt funny about it. If it was flying low, it wasn’t going fast enough, and if was flying high, the light seemed too bright.
I took a right at the stop-light, heading south, so now the light-in-the-sky is behind me and I can’t see it. I drive about a quarter mile and pull into a parking lot. I immediately search the sky, but its gone.
So now Im thinking that if it was a plane, it just turned off all it’s lights and went dark mode, which is possible, but not likely.
I was in the Air Force and I’ve lived near airports. Ive flown drones and been around drones. This seemed different.
PS I also prayed out loud that if it was a UAP please dont abduct me or do anything fucked up to me or my fam. So yeah I took it a little serious.
