Suspicious Timing: An organized and coordinated group of debunkers got caught rewriting and manipulating UAP pages. This sub is contemplating new rules to moderate misinformation, creating a new avenue for an organized group to acheive the same thing on Reddit, now that Wikipedia is lost to them.

The Wikipepedia scandal showed that a group of organized debunkers successfully manipulated UFO and UAP pages on Wikipedia. This was done under the guise of moderating disinformation and improving the quality of existing pages.

If you’re not familiar with the Wikipedia scandal, here’s a quote from Lue Elizondo on the recent scandal. The comment section will get you up to speed:

Just as the organized group of debunkers is losing one avenue to advance their agenda, r/Ufos is exploring moderation of disinformation, which would give a new avenue to an organized group of debunkers to manipulate. The thread outlining this is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOs/comments/1agqx26/should_we_experiment_with_a_rule_regarding/

You’d think that in the face of the wikipedia scandal, which demonstrated how recently moderating content was abused in an organized and systemic way, that this wouldn’t be the right timing to promote moderating disinformation, and that greater caution would be in order. Instead, the timing oddly creates a new avenue for these organized groups who need one, just as they’re losing Wikipedia, and coincides with Sean Kirkpatrick’s desperate media outreach to obfuscate and denigrate the UAP subject and all politicians interested in it.

In addition, the comments and votes in the comment section of the thread exploring moderating disinformation do not match the vote results in the poll.
