The Belgian Wave Incident: Did a Disinfo Agent Purposely Create a Fake Image to Distract from the Original???

This is regarding the Belgian Wave incident and two photos, one that was given to Unsolved Mysteries in 1990 (Season 4, Episode 10, 13-minute mark) that has NEVER been debunked, and another that was later introduced after that was debunked by its creator when he claimed he created it.

Backstory:

In 1990 a picture surfaced and was then provided to Unsolved Mysteries, as you can see at the 13:00 mark, which I skipped to in the link below for you (If you’re not in the US, the video might be blocked, you can still see the image in the imgur link below). Unsolved Mysteries stated they received the image in 1990 and it was a popular image, meaning it was circulating at the time they created the episode in 1990 and then they aired it in 1991.

In 2011 Patrick M would claim his image was a hoax, which caused many to dismiss the entire incident. It seems this image overtook the popularity of the original image simply because it’s clearer, and people then forgot there was a different image associated with this (Unsolved Mysteries would have used his clearer image instead if it were more popular at the time they created the episode in 1990).

Side-by-Side Comparison:
The original image provided to Unsolved Mysteries side by side with the Patrick M hoax image (only the hoax image is being allowed a mention on the Wikipedia page). Patrick M’s image is clearly not the famous original provided to the media and shows like Unsolved Mysteries.

Was The Hoax a Paid Hoax?
So was Patrick M a disinfo agent who introduced an image to confuse people so they’d forget about the true original picture? People now refer to Patrick M’s photo as “the original Belgium Wave photo” and now that he’s admit it was a hoax, that image provided to Unsolved Mysteries, the TRUE original picture, has been largely forgotten and people have assumed it was debunked.

The Wikipedia Battle:
Whoever is controlling the Belgian UFO Wave page refuses to allow this discrepancy to even be mentioned. When I edited it and simply mentioned the discrepancy without changing any of the text already there regarding Patrick M (just added a note about the discrepancy below it, mentioned the timestamp and episode of the Unsolved Mysteries episode), they reverted it back claiming that I was “trying to claim Patrick M’s photo is not a hoax,” which I absolutely was not claiming.

I couldn’t create a Wikipedia account for tech reasons, so I couldn’t add the Unsolved Mysteries image. If anyone else wants to take over this battle and thinks they can get that Unsolved Mysteries image in Wikipedia, please do so. The more the merrier to get this point across to whatever skeptic is fighting me on this.
