I’ve been keeping a timeline of significant historical events pertaining to the development of surveillance balloons, related materials technology, and other UFO events.

I posted this on the UFOs subreddit, but some people weren’t fans of the giant zoomable image format. Here it is, as a 17-page PDF with embedded links and larger font. I also added a few events that people suggested.

I believe that flying saucers are real, and I think it’s possible that we have recovered craft, but I think the Roswell story is a dog that doesn’t hunt, and it’s a known fact from Philip Corso that we have a “crash retrieval” and “back-engineering” program of a terrestrial nature.

The importance of the surveillance balloon appears to have been overlooked by the UFO community, myself included, and greater awareness of this topic will help us better respond to the obfuscation on this topic.
