Just a thought but I’m beginning to believe this could make sense. What if the aliens have strictly demanded the MIC or whomever it may be to maintain the secrecy until they deem it necessary and safe to disclose? What if there are severe repercussions for breaching this pact?

It could explain:

Why they (seemingly) don’t openly traverse our skies during the day over densely populated areas. Their possible reluctance to land, explore, and openly announce their existence Why those privy to this information desperately guard it at all cost.

It almost feels like the NHI have to be in on it to some degree. They could hypothetically roam freely, conduct observations, or even abduct at will with impunity. However, it seems they have a vested interest in remaining covert and discreet.

Imagine that the NHI have told the people in the know that if news of their existence is leaked, there would be grave consequences of some sort. And those entrusted with this knowledge have gone to great lengths to comply, sometimes appearing as antagonists when, in reality, they are acting in the best interest of humanity.

Or if a specific species came along and told them that it is imperative to hide the existence of all NHI life at any and all costs until further notice. Then different species could visit us, observe, have accidents/crash, or even engage in abductions, prompting those in the know to zealously cover up everything through any means necessary.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if the people in the know were actually the good guys, and they’re in a tough position and have to play the villain in order to protect the human race from whatever direct or indirect consequences the NHI have divulged? Similar to the Snape and Harry Potter relationship dynamic for lack of a better example lol.

Just an interesting thought experiment and obviously no evidence to support it.

And to be clear, I am pro-disclosure and want to believe most NHI are benign and have our best interest in mind.
