What if total disclosure happens and it isn’t what we expect?

Whenever the word “disclosure” gets thrown around, there is an implication that the keepers of the secret somehow have all the answers to our big questions. Questions like what are these things?, what are their goals?, how does their technology work?, etc.

However, there’s a very real possibility that the people who have been in the know about this phenomenon are almost just as much in the dark as we are. We can only conclude based on the information given that certain groups are in possession of craft/material, have been covertly studying this stuff, and know more than the average researcher. Imagine if everything these groups knew was exposed, and all that came from it was their tentative conjecture on UFO origins, failed projects to reverse engineer, and dozens of inconclusive studies. While disclosure would be beneficial to the scientific community and people who are heavily invested in this, the truth about our relationship with the phenomenon may very well be unsettling to the average person and the government/military at large.

Imagine if it was revealed that the ETH was complete baloney, that the “biologics” aren’t simple aliens, and that EVERYTHING surrounding this is inexplicable. Perhaps there really is a bizarre metaphysical and spiritual aspect to UFOs; perhaps science just isn’t good enough to study these things. I know that if this came out instead of some “the aliens have come to observe us” explanation, I’d probably be kept up at night.

I’d just like to hear everyone’s thoughts on this possibility, sorry if something similar to this has already been posted here.
