Sorry if this isn’t the right place for this but this sub seems to be the most active right now given everything going on…

Some people have posited that NHI technology is so advanced it could completely change our existing economic and societal models. And further, that power-hungry individuals have been hiding it at humanity’s expense to further their own selfish ends.

If technology were introduced that got us off fossil fuels, equalized the energy playing field, eliminated existing power structures and the problem of resource scarcity and the need to work for money to buy things, what would the world look like? What would people do with their time?

I’d imagine some people would still want to work (it’s fun to build cool stuff) and some people wouldn’t. If basic survival were no longer an issue, if there was no longer any point for an individual or group of individuals to enrich themselves at the expense of others, what would people do in the short and long term?
