Whoa whoa, slow down. Isn’t Rep. Burchett **adding** his amendment to the Schumer amendment, not replacing it?

The way the Burchett amendment is written, it appears that this is an additional section that will be added to the Schumer amendment. This would account for why the amendment is so short (isn’t written like literally any other fleshed out amendment in the NDAA with all the definitions and legal jargon).

Burchett’s amendment begins with “Section 10”. I take that to mean it is a rewrite or addition to the Section 10 of Schumer’s UAP Disclosure Act. Section 10 deals with actual disclosure by the way.

I think that Burchett just wanted to ensure that disclosure happens within 180 days. Now, yes, his amendment doesn’t quite do that, but I believe that’s where his head is at and I don’t see any evidence yet that they are gutting the Schumer amendment.
